Join Justin's Battle Against Cancer

On Saturday, January 4th, my husband Justin began experiencing severe abdominal pain. He couldn’t keep any food or liquids down and was breaking into a cold sweat. We rushed him to Harris Methodist Hospital, and after 20 hours in the ER, doctors made a discovery no one ever wants to hear.

They found a small blockage the size of a marble in his lower intestine. With some medication, he was able to pass the blockage with the remaining marble sized mass attached to the lower intestine.

However, after further tests, the doctors asked if Justin was experiencing any back pain (in which he was a few months previously, we thought it was a pulled muscle), and it was confirmed that another mass, the size of an orange, was located behind his lower intestine and left kidney. More tests, including blood work, an MRI, CT scans, X-rays, and a biopsy, later confirmed that Justin has Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma (Cancer). At this time, the stage of the cancer is still unknown, but treatment will begin once the situation is fully assessed.

We want to share with you that Justin and I, Lancelot, just recently got married on December 20th, 2024, ready to start our new lives together. However, this situation was something we never expected, and it’s not something we could have prepared for. No one plans for moments like this. Life can throw curveballs, and what started as what seemed like a simple stomach ache turned into a nightmare. With only one of us able to work, having a part time job, dealing with insurance, mounting bills, and the constant worry for my husband’s health, we know we need to keep fighting and stay strong. No matter what, we will get through this—somehow, some way.

But this fight is not just emotional—it's financial. As many of you know, the medical bills are already piling up. We’ve spent hours in the hospital, undergone countless tests, and there will be more to come as Justin starts treatment. While we are working with insurance, billing and other assistance from those who could help during the week we were out-the out-of-pocket costs are already accumulating, and it’s hard to predict how much more we will need to cover in the future. With one income, I am struggling to keep up with everyday expenses, let alone the unexpected costs of treatment and care.

We also need help with things like transportation to and from appointments, medications, and aftercare. There are days when Justin will be too weak to leave the house, and I’ll be his primary caretaker while still trying to manage all the responsibilities on my own. The added stress of financial uncertainty makes this even harder.

The truth is, we don’t know what the future holds, but with your help, we will be able to focus on Justin’s health, keep our lives moving forward, and face this battle together. Thank you for your support, love, and generosity during this incredibly difficult time. Hug your loved ones close—life can change in an instant, and you never know what tomorrow will bring with the one you love most. You all know I know this lesson way-too well.

I love this man. Please consider helping in any way that you can.

Thank you.
