Join Jovante's Road to Recovery

On behalf of my best friend and the father of my first child, we are raising funds for Jovante and his fiancé Tori.

Jovante has an arteriovenous malformation(AVM) in the left frontal lobe of his brain. Periodically, he has seizures but had seemingly gotten them under control over the last few years. On January 6th, 2 days ago, Jovante’s AVM ruptured, and he was airlifted to the hospital with a catastrophic brain bleed down his spinal cord. We were told he was unresponsive and in a coma; his surgeon went home, he was placed on life support and deemed “brain dead.”

His mother and sister refused to give up hope and fought for him. They challenged the doctors and statistics and pushed them to perform a lifesaving surgery on him to drain the blood out of his brain and alleviate pressure. The surgery was successful, and he started to respond more and more to our voices with hand movements. He was still in a coma, and it was predicted that it would take a month or more for him to wake up, and when he did, that he may not be the same and could have severe brain damage.

His son, Milenneo (6), whom he is very connected to, told us he would sleep one day but would wake up this morning.

Around 7 am, Jovante came out of his coma and is responding as his usual self. He is tired and sore; he wakes for maybe a few minutes and drifts off back to sleep for most of the day. He will hopefully slowly continue to regain his strength. Right now, he’s able to swallow, make hand movements, open his eyes, and speak, but this will be a long road to recovery. As of right now, we are taking this day by day, and plans as far as his recovery, treatments, and discharge are not set in stone.

Jovante is an outstanding father. He started a business this last year to support his family and create a beautiful life with his fiancé and sons. He has touched so many lives and truly is a very special, unique individual to everyone he meets. He has always given everything he had to those he loves. He has a big heart and cares with such intensity, even for a stranger.

Jovante has proven time and time again he deserves to be here and is meant to be here with us. He is surrounded with so much love and support, and we know that he has so much more outside of us.

All of the proceeds of this fundraiser will go to his fiancé Tori; to help take care of Jovante, their family, medical bills, and to alleviate financial stress during this time. We want to make sure they are well taken care of and Jovante has the time to relax, and be supported during his recovery.
