Join Josh's Journey: Beat High-Risk Leukemia
Donation protected
Hello! We are raising money for Josh Voigt and his upcoming medical bills.
On December 26th, 2024, Josh went to the doctor in Pierre because he was not feeling well and almost fainted at work. After taking some blood, doctors realized that Josh's white blood cell count was around 115 (normal is between 4 and 11). Josh was instructed to go to Sioux Falls as soon as possible.
Upon arriving in Sioux Falls and checking into the Avera Cancer Institute, Josh learned he had leukemia. The days that followed were tough as Josh learned the severity of his leukemia (High Risk, ETP-ALL) and life expectancy during and after treatment. Due to Josh being relatively healthy and only 27, the team decided to take on an aggressive treatment, giving him the best chances of beating the cancer.
On New Year's Eve (12/31/24), Josh started his first round of chemotherapy and will have chemo roughly 2 times a week for a month.
The first week in the hospital, Josh's mom, Cheryl, was able to stay with him and help him process the emotions and sudden influx of information. On Jan 2nd, Cheryl had to return to Pierre for work. Immediate family will travel back and forth when possible to visit Josh until he comes home.
