Jo Jewett (Joanne Vadakin) is a single mother facing a frightening cancer diagnosis. For circumstances beyond her control, including a recent divorce, she was already facing economic challenges, so an out-of-the-blue cancer diagnosis hit particularly hard. Asking for help is not her strong suit, but that’s what she’s doing now. She recently underwent surgery to remove part of her colon and the first step is to recover from that. Next, she’ll receive a more precise diagnosis. For certain, the near future will involve a lot of costly treatment that will affect her ability to work, provide for her family, and cover the significant out-of-pocket medical expenses.
Maybe you know Jo because she helps your kids at school as a teachers’ assistant, or because your kids play sports with one or both of her daughters. Maybe you know her from around the neighborhood: she’s a lifelong resident of West Seattle. If you know her, you know her as a funny, sweet, and kind soul deeply deserving of support from the community around her. Please join me in helping Jo fight for a cancer-free future.
ADDITIONAL NOTE: Thank you for helping us meet our fundraising goals thus far. With the funds, Jo says she intends to pay past and future bills and, most importantly, ensure that the girls are taken care of. Thank you for your kindness. It is needed and greatly appreciated.
