Meet Jonas & Eleonore Muyima, passionate humanitarian evangelists that have been committed to sharing the Gospel of Christ for the past 14 years as they also attend to the physical, psychological, relational, social, economic and spiritual needs of some of the some of the most remote and forgotten people and communities in the world located in Central Africa.
They are members of our small, Christian congregation (20 families; mostly young marrieds with kids) known as The Father’s House in West Chester, OH, USA near Cincinnati (https://fathershouse.tv). Their story has captured the hearts of our people, and we are assisting their efforts to the extent possible. But the vision God has given them for the people of Central Africa is ambitious but will succeed
Jonas and Eleonore use a holistic approach (first tending to the immediate physical needs like medical care, food security, clean water and overcoming disabilities to open doors in a land where poverty, witchcraft and superstition are strong deterrents to such humanitarian efforts. Yet, as the pictures from previous Outreaches attest, the people rejoice as the medical equipment they so desperately need is provided. Sickness and diseases are healed through medical intervention AND the prayers of the people. Leg-disabled people that have been stricken with polio or other diseases are being empowered with mobility equipment such as Personal Energy Transportation (PET) Carts (see footnote 1 below), wheelchairs, crutches, bed commodes and more. Agricultural training and field demonstrations provide a sustainable model for growing reliable sources of nutritious foods in our effort to overcome poverty and hunger (see footnote 2 below). Addictions are broken. Hearts are mended. Faith and hope in a God that is alive and cares for them is established. The Holy Spirit speaks to their hearts; and they know that because Jesus is in their hearts, their future is secured for all eternity.
Footnote 1: The PET Cart is powered by hand-operated pedals instead of leg power like a bicycle. I has room for the driver and another adult, or 2 children, or water and other goods in the small truck bed behind the driver. This simple equipment provides its owner with the ability to do useful work and make a living which gives him or her with a wonderful sense of self-esteem as a contributing member of the community.
Footnote 2: - Unpolluted water is scarce and a primary limiting factor in this region. The main source of water for these villagers is surface waters primarily rivers, ponds and lakes. These waters are used for bathing, the washing of clothes, eating utensils, tools and equipment, all of which leaves pollution in the water. Due to the hydrology of surface water, it always flows down slope from the dry, inhabited land to the low-lying water body. During its journey the water flowing over land often picks up pollutants from contact with human, animal waste, garbage and sometimes chemicals. And then these same waters are used for preparing food and, yes, for drinking. As such, wells for these villages are desperately needed to provide reliable sources of clean, fresh water along with education on hygiene techniques that are appropriate for their way of life. This will help stem the spread of debilitating diseases like polio. Unfortunately, wells are not on the schedule for this outreach.
The 2025 Outreach will take 6 months from May 1st to October 31st. Jonas, Eleonore and their team in the Congo, have set forth an ambitious schedule that will take them to towns, villages and the far reaches of the Congo where even the proverbial beaten path becomes difficult to see. A summary of their itinerary is below. Once you get an idea of the scope of this outreach, please consider helping us raise the US$30,000 budget needed to support this spiritual and humanitarian work to people whose circumstances have come before the Lord God.
