Join Jojo's Journey Towards Healing

The world knows her as Johan, but we know her as: mom, wife, sister, Abu Jojo, daughter, Titi Jojo, and friend. She’s the best part of any day. To be in her presence and goodness makes life so much sweeter. She’s always willing to dance with you in the kitchen, will pick you up when you’re having a bad day, will listen to you and never judge. She’s always around when you need her the most, and always with a smile on her face. She has the biggest heart, and does for others without ever expecting anything in return. To know Jojo, is to know what love is.

In the beginning of April, Jojo was diagnosed with liver cancer, which has spread to other areas. Needless to say, this has taken us all by surprise and we are taking everything a day at a time. As of right now, we are waiting to complete PET scans and biopsies to get a better idea of what type of chemo will be best for her condition, and to finalize her treatment plan. She is tentatively scheduled to start chemo on Friday, May 3rd.

Our goal for these funds would be to cover her medical bills, living expenses, and to assure she has the support she needs while on treatment. We don’t want her to worry about anything other than getting better.

Her tribe is ready to be with her every step of the way. Her husband Matt hasn’t missed an appointment, and is ready stand guard and fight along side of her. She’s surrounded by the love and support of her two children, Matty and Soso, and her son-in-law, Chris. And of course, she’s welcomed home everyday by the love of her grandbaby, Wren. The rest of her tribe has been checking in daily, and making tentative plans to be available for continued support as we step into this new season together. Her work family has been so supportive and encouraging to her in this time. She’s got an army behind her.

We want to make sure she has everything she needs on this journey, and will be updating her community weekly on her progress through a “Caring Bridge” account (details to come). This is just a chapter in Jojo’s story, we may not know what the journey holds but we do know who the Author of her life is. We have full faith and trust that Jojo is going to come out of this stronger than ever.
