Hi, my name is John. My fiancé, Melissa, is currently in the ICU fighting for her life. She has been diagnosed with a rare and devastating disease called A.I.P. (Acute Interstitial Pneumonia). It’s an extremely rare condition with no known cure or clear cause. This disease carries a very high mortality rate of about 70%, and those who do survive often face the difficult prospect of requiring a lung transplant to have any chance at a normal life. She is currently intubated and on a ventilator.
Melissa’s situation became critical last Sunday when she almost died from a blood clot in her lung, which was likely caused by a biopsy she underwent recently. Because of this clot, her oxygen levels dropped to dangerously low levels, and she had to be put on dialysis to support her body.
Thankfully, Melissa is doing better now. The clot has dissolved, and she is off most of the life-saving IV medications she was dependent on earlier this week. However, the road to recovery is expected to be very long and challenging, with many uncertainties ahead.
I have had to reduce my work hours significantly to be by her side, and as a result, the bills and expenses are quickly piling up. If you are able to help in any way, no matter how small, it would mean the world to us. Thank you so much for your support and kindness during this difficult time.
