Update on Joey's Health Journey

As many of you know, Joey faced health struggles back in November. After a visit to the ER and a CT scan of his chest, we were told there was a strong possibility of late-stage lung cancer. Fast forward to today, and after two lung biopsies, we've received tough news: Joey's kidney cancer has returned and metastasized to his lungs, pelvis, and humerus bone in his right arm. He has officially been diagnosed with Stage 4 Clear Cell Renal Carcinoma.

We met with his oncologist this morning, and Joey will begin dual immunotherapy with Nivolumab (Opdivo) and Ipilimumab (Yervoy). He will undergo weekly infusions for four months, after which he'll have a re-scan. If the scans show a reduction in the tumors, one of the therapies will be dropped, and he will continue with the other until it's no longer effective.

Though surgery isn't an option, we remain hopeful that these treatments will effectively reduce the growths, allowing Joey to continue fighting this disease.

We are incredibly grateful to those who donated to the Go Fund Me account; your generosity is set aside for his treatments. While we do have health insurance, it does not cover 100% of the scans or infusions, and we are responsible for 20% of the coinsurance on most treatments.

I am reaching out to you with a heavy heart to ask for your support for my husband, Joey, who was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 Lung Cancer. This news has been devastating for our family. In May of 2019, Joey bravely fought Stage 3 Kidney Cancer, during which he underwent a radical nephrectomy to have his left kidney removed. He showed unparalleled strength and resilience throughout that battle.

Now, as he faces this new challenge, we are committed to helping him through the necessary treatments and medical care he will require in the coming months. Unfortunately, the road ahead will not only be emotionally challenging but also financially burdensome. We anticipate that Joey will not be able to work for much longer as he starts his treatment plan, which means medical bills and everyday expenses will soon pile up.

Any funds raised through this campaign will go directly toward Joey's treatment plan, medical bills, and essential expenses that arise during this difficult time.
