On the evening of June 1st, our beautiful JoAnna fell in her home and sustained a major head injury. The last 2 months have been an emotional and physically challenging time for JoAnna, her family, and friends. After JoAnna spent 6 days in the TICU (Trauma Intensive Care Unit) and underwent an emergency Decompressive craniectomy while also suffering a stroke from the accident, she was moved to the PCU (Progressive Care Unit) and now finally in the Acute Injury Rehabilitation Unit and is soon being released to go home.
The JoAnna we all know and love is still in there and is still fighting like the warrior she has always been. Traumatic brain injuries are a long and winding road with many twists and turns along the way. The good news is JoAnna has always been a good driver and gets to where she wants to be with fierce determination.
The hard news is with all of this JoAnna and her family need help. As much as prayers, positive thoughts, and white light are needed and blessed… Any help is appreciated. JoAnna will soon be released from Post Acute Rehabilitation and she will return home, this is where we are asking for help. JoAnna's sister Anna has very graciously decided to be JoAnna's primary at-home care provider as most of the at-home care is not covered under insurance. The tools needed for JoAnna to continue rocking her progress will no longer be provided and need to be purchased or rented. In addition to all the home care needs, there are everyday bills that need to be paid and groceries that need to be purchased. We know times are tough for everyone and if you can help we would be very thankful and appreciative, but truly understand if you are not able.
Just remember JoAnna is a fighter and we have all seen what she is capable of one way or another. Please know that we, her family and friends, are doing everything we can to make sure JoAnna is getting everything she needs to fight this fight and let her body heal back to a place we all remember her as, with telling us all bad jokes and making us laugh with her witty comebacks and sweet sweet dance moves.
Thank you all!
