Join Jeff's Journey to Health Recovery

On Jeff's 61st birthday he found out he had Multiple Myeloma, an incurable but treatable blood cancer. Our world was rocked and the journey has been unthinkable thus far. The initial plan was to treat him with chemotherapy and plan for a bone marrow transplant, which would put the myeloma in remission. Along the way Jeff developed Gillian Barre Syndrome, an autoimmune disorder rendering him unable to walk and in excruciating pain. Recovery from this syndrome can take up to 2 years. In addition, he found out he had a cancerous tumor on his kidney. He underwent successful kidney removal surgery a week ago. To date, Jeff has been in the hospital a total of 20 nights and we have not even gotten to the bone marrow transplant yet. I had to take an unpaid leave of absence to care for him, and will have to again when he goes for his bone marrow transplant. We are living a nightmare we never could have imagined that has been emotionally, physically and financially draining. We are hopeful for a future of good health and enjoying our family and friends, and the activities we love, once more. That is what keeps us going; that and our love for one another.
