Help Save Pixie – Fighting Feline Infectious Peritonitis (deadly disease)

Pixie was diagnosed with FIP (feline infectious peritonitis) — a serious viral disease that is fatal if left untreated. This treatment will save her life.

Hi, I’m Joyce, and I’d like to share the story of my kitten Pixie — a brave little fighter who is now battling for her life.

I adopted Pixie from a shelter when she was just 6 months old. From the very first day, she had an eye infection, but the shelter gave me medication to treat it. I took her to the vet to understand what had happened to her eye, and it turns out she had suffered from a very severe past infection. As a result, she was left with a patch of tissue in that eye, but her other eye was completely healthy. The vet assured me that the tissue wouldn’t harm her or worsen over time — it only slightly limited her vision.

However, two weeks later, I began to notice some worrying signs: a reddish spot was starting to form in her good eye, and she began walking strangely with her back legs. I took her back to the vet, both for a general check-up and to evaluate these new symptoms. After performing the necessary blood tests, we received heartbreaking news: Pixie was diagnosed with FIP (feline infectious peritonitis) — a serious viral disease that is fatal if left untreated.

Her condition deteriorated rapidly. Along with the red spot in her good eye and her weakened back legs due to the neurological damage caused by the disease, she barely moved, slept all day, and lost her appetite, eating much less. She also developed a very high fever, and eventually, severe gingivitis, due to her weakened immune system.

Despite the circumstances and all my concern, I managed to get her the proper treatment. However, it is very expensive. It’s a specific and intensive 3-month treatment, involving daily injections, specialized medication, and multiple veterinary check-ups and blood tests.

That’s why I’m here, asking for your help. Any donation, no matter how small, will help me cover the costs of Pixie’s treatment and give her a chance to survive. She’s fighting with all her strength, and I’m doing everything I can to save her — but I can’t do it alone.

Ayuda para el tratamiento de FIP (enfermedad mortal) de mi gata Pixie

Pixie fue diagnosticada con FIP (peritonitis infecciosa felina), una enfermedad viral grave que, si no se trata a tiempo, es mortal. Este tratamiento salvara su vida.

Hola, mi nombre es Joyce y quiero contarles la historia de mi gatita Pixie, una pequeña guerrera que hoy está luchando por su vida.

Adopté a Pixie de un refugio cuando tenía solo 6 meses. Desde el primer día, tenía una infección en uno de sus ojos, pero el refugio me entregó los medicamentos para tratarla. La llevé al veterinario para confirmar qué tenía en su ojo y descubrimos que se trataba de una infección muy fuerte que había tenido en el pasado; a raíz de eso, le quedó un tejido en el ojo, pero todavía tenía su otro ojo completamente sano. El veterinario me explicó que ese tejido no le afecta de forma perjudicial ni representa un riesgo futuro, solo limita un poco su visión.

Sin embargo, dos semanas después, comencé a notar cosas preocupantes: le estaba saliendo una mancha roja en su ojo sano y comenzó a caminar de manera extraña con sus patas traseras. La llevé nuevamente al veterinario, tanto para un chequeo general como por estos síntomas. Tras realizarle los exámenes de sangre necesarios, recibimos una noticia devastadora: Pixie fue diagnosticada con FIP (peritonitis infecciosa felina), una enfermedad viral grave que, si no se trata a tiempo, es mortal.

Su condición empeoró rápidamente. Además de la mancha en su ojo bueno y sus patas traseras debilitadas por el daño neurológico que causa esta enfermedad, casi no se movía, dormía todo el día y perdió el apetito, lo que hizo que comiera mucho menos. También comenzó a presentar fiebre muy alta, y desarrolló una gingivitis severa, causada por su sistema inmunológico debilitado.

A pesar de la circunstancia y de toda la preocupación, logré conseguir el tratamiento adecuado. Sin embargo, es muy costoso. Se trata de un tratamiento específico y prolongado que dura 3 meses, con inyecciones diarias, medicación especializada, y varias consultas veterinarias y análisis de sangre de seguimiento.

Por eso estoy aquí, pidiendo ayuda. Cualquier aporte, por pequeño que sea, me permitirá seguir dándole a Pixie la oportunidad de vivir. Ella está luchando con todas sus fuerzas, y yo haré todo lo posible por salvarla, pero no puedo hacerlo sola.
