This is a call for community.
Many you may not know but Chelsea has faced unimaginable challenges in her battle against cancer.
After bravely overcoming Stage 2 Metastatic Breast Cancer, she was devastated to learn that her beloved Nana was diagnosed with Stage 4 Breast Cancer. Despite the overwhelming demands of raising a child, working full-time, and mentoring students — Chelsea made countless trips to NYC to support her grandmother. Tragically, her Nana passed away in December 2024. In the past few years, Chels has been forced to endure the heartbreaking loss of two of the most important women in her life—her Nana and her GG. These women weren’t just family; they were her pillars, her support, and her guiding lights. The grief from losing them, especially while navigating her own health struggles, has been a profound burden for Chelsea to carry. Shortly after, Chelsea’s mother was also diagnosed with breast cancer and recently finished chemotherapy.
Chelsea will have to receive treatment for the rest of her.
She has undergone radiation to treat tumors in her brain and spine and continues weekly chemotherapy treatments all while raising her beautiful 8-year-old son.As independent as Chelsea is, her journey has recently taken another difficult turn. Due to seizures, she has had to stop driving, which has made it even harder to manage day-to-day tasks, like appointments and getting her child to school. This new limitation adds yet another layer of difficulty to an already overwhelming situation.
Despite these grueling challenges, she remains determined to finish her Doctorate’s. Chelsea’s perseverance and spirit are remarkable.
However, the treatments are leaving her exhausted and in bed most days. As a result, Chelsea has had to reduce her work. The financial strain from medical treatments, rising expenses for daily living, and the care of her child has become overwhelming.
Any donation, no matter how small, will go directly toward helping Chelsea cover medical costs, groceries, childcare, and everyday living expenses. Your support will make a real difference in easing her burden as she continues her fight. If you're unable to contribute financially, please consider sharing this message with others or sending Chelsea words of encouragement. If you have a memory or story about Chelsea that has made you laugh, smile, or feel uplifted, please share it. Your positivity could help lift her spirits during this incredibly difficult time.
With love and deepest gratitude,
