Every cowboy has a story, and anyone who knows Jeff knows he is a stoic man, made of grit, determination and readiness in his eyes for the next ride of his life. Jeff’s story recently changed; he drew the roughest rowdiest bull: he was diagnosed with cancer. In November 2021, Jeff was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma (cancer in his neck). He underwent extensive surgery to remove tonsils, the primary tumor, and 22 lymph nodes in his neck. If that wasn’t enough, Jeff was told he would also have to undergo both chemo and radiation for the next 7 weeks. The doctors recently placed a port in to prepare him for this journey. As we all know, the stress that both chemo and radiation puts on the body will bring him additional challenges that he will need to focus on. The cancer treatment is aggressive and intensive to make matters even more difficult. He will need to be in Bismarck, ND 5 days a week. Bismarck is 117 miles away from his home, requiring him to stay in Bismarck while being treated for cancer. He will also need to be closely monitored by his doctors, which will mean many more appointments, scans and other procedures.
Although this sounds like daunting news, Jeff has nodded his head; he is ready for this ride. He is determined to leave the chute on the fiercest ride yet, but he’s been in tougher spots and came out unscathed! For those who know Jeff well, you know asking for help just isn’t what this cowboy does. Unfortunately, he will not be able to return to work anytime soon and he needs to be able to give all his energy to fight, so that he can make this 8 second ride. Jeff has many people in the stands for him. Many have reached out and asked, “what can I do to help.” Honestly, that is a hard question for Jeff to answer because he is a hard-working, independent man. He deals with his own shit! Well sometimes we all need a pickup man; this is your chance to be that person for Jeff.
The financial aspects of this ride are in a whole other arena altogether! Donations would relieve some of the financial stress this cancer has caused. All contributions will pay for Jeff’s medical and living expenses. Any donation will allow Jeff to focus on his physical health rather than the financial burden this bastard bull called cancer has caused. Thank you for picking Jeff up when he needed you the most!
