Meet Helen. A mother, a grandmother, a sister, an aunt, a best friend, a registered nurse, a Sunday school teacher, a youth group leader. A safe place for hundreds of people. A home to many. The list could go on forever. I promise you this woman was the purest happiest soul to walk the Earth. She NEVER turned down helping someone. October 8, 2023, Helen had a severe stroke that left her half paralyzed with extensive brain issues. Because of being partially paralyzed, Helen has trouble breathing and swallowing on her own. In result she was left on a ventilator. In the last 8 moths Helen has been to 5 hospitals and 2 skilled nursing facilities. She was recently sent to Ohio State University Wexner center for an infection. After her stay there Helen no longer needed a ventilator, she is now on a Trach mask and a cpap at night. She was approved to start physical therapy. Things with Helen are finally looking better. She is visibly and noticeably much happier. However, at the cost of all of this comes her insurance. In order for Helen to continue getting treatments, her entire income is being forfeited to her new facility. Helen has a beautiful home she worked her entire life to be able to get. A place that she genuinely felt at home. The first place I have ever been able to call my home. My name is Cassie. I am Helens youngest child. I have been taking care of my mom for as long as I can remember. It has always been her and I against the world. My mom and I picked out this home together the year I graduated from high school. My mom and I planned our future in this home with our little family. We have plans to take over my mom's home as soon as we possibly can, however we cannot take over the home until October because that is when our lease is up . The money we are hoping to raise is almost enough to cover Helen's mortgage and utilities until October. Of course, I will be reaching out to community actions and any resources I can for help. We just need this little bit of help so my family and I can return back home. So, when my mom is ready to return home, she will have one to return too. Thank you so much for reading this, I know it is long and kind of a jumbled mess. My mom is my life, this was not something I was looking forward too so soon in my life. From the bottom of all of our hearts, thank you so much, we love you.
