Hi all
Its been awhile since we have done a major update on Hannahs cancer battle. The fight continues and we are hopeful that by the end of 2025 Hannah will finally be able to say she is in remission!!!
In November of 2024 Hannah was placed in a trial at the James cancer center in Columbus Ohio. The trial was a car T cell transplant that attacked 2 different proteins instead of just one protein like her car T transplant at the Cleveland Clinic in April of 2024. After the 2nd transplant there was still some uptake on her pet scan but they were hopeful that the T cells were still working. Unfortunately the next pet scan showed a large amount of growth along with 2 new spots in her right thigh/pelvic region. Several attempts were made to do the more simple needle biopsy but unfortunately those were unsuccessful she needed to have a surgical biopsy again. They were able to access the mass through the original scar and were successful in getting a good sample. Much to her oncologists surprise the pathology came back as Hodgkins Lymphoma and NO sign of her original diagnosis of EBV+ Diffussed Large B-Cell Non Hodgkins Lymphoma. More indepth testing was required on the sample and she was then diagnosed with Composite Lyphoma. It is rare and the simple description of Composite Lymphoma is that she has had both Non Hodgkins and Hodgkins lymphoma from the beginning but the Hodgkins was "hiding" in the back ground until the Non Hodgkins was gone.
So that brings us to the present. As I am writing this Hannah is currently having her initial CT scan and mold made for proton therapy. She has had 3 rounds of ICE chemo, and the last pet scan showed good results with only a small spot that showed uptake, Proton therapy will be used to in simple terms zap the remaining uptake spot.
The final step to her recovery will be a stem cell transplant that will require a long hospital stay in Columbus at the James and then living in Columbus for approximately 100 days post release from the hospital.
Hannahs oncologist recommended to Hannah and Dustin that because of the need to have a stem cell transplant that they do fertility preservation so that they can start a family in the future. Unfortunately, insurance does not pay for any fertility treatments, so they had to pay a large amount out of pocket to go ahead with the procedures.
Proton therapy will be 5 days in a row and require Hannah to stay in Columbus and come home on weekends through the therapy.
I am asking that if you are able to help Hannah and Dustin financially that you give what you can. Even if its $5 every amount will help. This cancer Journey has been going on for 2.5yrs. Travel alone has been a lot. And now they are facing being over 2hrs away from each other for the rest of the year. Your financial help would help with all of the travel back and forth for Dustin.
As always we covet your prayers and thank you for the wonderful support you have given us this far in our family's journey.
