I’m Haley Akers, a long time dog lover and 10 year dog business owner. I want to start a non profit that takes in unhomed or surrendered dogs to be trained, vetted, and made ready to find their forever home. I’ve worked with many dog rescues however, none with an emphasis on training the dogs to better prepare owners and dogs for longevity in their new home.

I have been training, raising, and fostering dogs out of my own home for 10 years. The care for dogs and owners is nothing new to me. I want to better utilize my skills and passion and start serving my community in the best way that I can!

Dogs will live with other dogs, a cat, and children so families can be assured by me what their dog likes, tolerates, and should avoid.

Ongoing costs: food, cleaning, vet, bedding, medication. I plan to make an Amazon wishlist that you could directly buy from to send to dogs in Prepared Paws.

Adoption costs: ~$1,000

Adoption fees would help cover their dogs funds and help fund next dogs needs.

After dogs have time to decompress and become healthy if sick, dogs will go thru my training program to better their chances at a forever home. Learning basic obedience on & off leash, how to be calm in the house, crate manners, leash manners, stop unwanted behaviors, grooming and handling, and more!

Training will be transferred to new homes in an extensive go home lesson. Families will go thru a vetting process done by me to ensure a good fit for dog and family. Families will have 3 months of free follow ups as needed and can surrender dogs back to me at any time. Ideal homes are fit to the dogs needs and are excited to have a well trained dog that they can further advance and maintain!
