My Wife and I are not ones to ask for help with anything, but this is a solo request on my part to help in giving my wife a reason to fight Cancer.

I’m a retired Air Force as of 2011 and I gave my GI Bill to my wife to pursue her dream of attending Gemology school in Carlsbad, CA. In Aug or Sep of 2023, she found a lump on her breast and we started further testing. Meanwhile, the application was still processing for the Gemology school. In December of 2023, we had still not received in final word about the lump and my Wife was accepted to the school.

Early January 2024, we decided to roll the dice, so we packed our jeep wrangler and did a four-day road trip from Florida to California. The trip was interesting as it encompassed tropical weather, to ice in Kerrville, TX and tumbleweeds in New Mexico.

We arrived at an Airbnb in Carlsbad, CA and got unpacked. It was a nice secure place I was comfortable with leaving my wife at for seven months of school.

The next day after arriving we bought a refrigerator and other things to make her comfortable for 7 months. The same day, while my wife was out picking up things for the room, she received a phone call that she had breast cancer.

This was a devastating bomb. This was the last year she could use my GI bill and her dream was shattered as she was sitting at the front door to enter her dream.

She had to cancel orientation which was the next day and withdraw. She was devastated. I’m a disabled Vet with back issues wherein I could not drive back to Florida, so we had to fly our Son to CA to drive my wife back while I flew back per original plans.

In addition, the Airbnb owner had a black heart and threatened us with cops to leave because we had to cancel. With deposit rules, we stayed three days for $2500 and the owner was heartless and did not refund anything. (Her name was Betty and had a nice property outside of town with vineyards…stay away from her)

Now we’re back in Florida and dealing with Chemo. The once every week session for three months was not fun along with the physical drain it took. My Wife’s blood levels were all over the place and chemo had to be extended 3-4 times. The second phase they call the “Red Devil” of which she was to get four treatments. She did one and ended up in the hospital. For the second one they lowered the dose, and she ended up in the hospital twice more wherein as I write this she’s currently in the hospital and they don’t know what’s wrong.

They decided to stop Chemo and go for surgery, but they can’t do surgery until she’s physically in better condition. She’s lost about 50lbs of which she didn’t have to lose and not can’t eat or drink, so we’re looking at a feeding tube in her stomach to hopefully bring her body back to a proper functioning level.

I’m asking for prayers and a means to give her something to fight for. She has always dreamed of staying in a bungalow over the ocean. I want to pamper her and shoot for February 2025 to stay at a Sandals resort with all-inclusive amenities to tell Cancer we beat it. The cost for four days is $15k, but not sure it covers air fare, etc.

I don’t know how this fund me thing works, but I’m for real as is my wife. Any help and prayers are deeply appreciated.
