Join Grace's Journey for a New Kidney

Grace is a 17-year-old girl who desperately needs your help. Grace was born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. After a rough start to life, after her third open heart surgery at 3 years old, her development took off, and she was finally healthy and strong enough to grow and develop like a typical child. Grace was relatively healthy until 2020, when we discovered that she needed a heart and liver transplant. Grace waited three years for her heart and liver; the last few months were spent waiting in the hospital.

In January 2024, we received the call that she had a perfect match. We were excited, nervous, and grateful for her new organs. Going into the transplant, we knew to expect a rough recovery, but no one was prepared for the magnitude of complications Grace experienced. She remained inpatient for 6 additional months, most of which was spent in the ICU. The most devastating complication was that her kidneys were traumatized, and she developed kidney failure. She now requires dialysis three times a week while she waits for a new kidney.

It has been a year and a half since she has been listed. Recently, we discovered that due to Grace's numerous surgeries and previous transplants, it is more challenging to find a match. Doctors have told us that her best chance of getting a kidney soon is if we can find a living donor. Grace has been through so much over the last five years. I have exhausted all my options, talking to friends and family and reaching out to community members to share Grace's story in hopes that others will consider donating a kidney to Grace. Our best hope is to share her story with as many people as possible. I have reached out to news stations with little success. One morning, we were driving to an early dialysis appointment, and I got the idea to share her story on a billboard, especially since there are digital billboards that make it easier and more affordable than imagined.
