Join Garrett's Fight to Beat Cancer

My oldest son, Garrett, was diagnosed with salivary gland cancer in September 2021. Since then, he has undergone multiple surgeries to remove malignant tumors, extensive reconstruction of his right jaw, and proton therapy radiation twice. He had his last surgical resection on 11/7/2023 and finished 6 grueling weeks of proton therapy on 2/23/2024. We enjoyed the blessing of about a year with no tumor recurrence. Unfortunately, this past November, Garrett noticed a new mass behind his right ear/jaw area. After a few scans and a biopsy, it was confirmed that his cancer had returned, and this mass was in fact the same malignant tumor type as his previous tumors. However, this particular tumor is located on the main facial nerve that controls all of his facial movement on the right side, making surgical resection extremely difficult and risky. His head and neck oncologist has gone above and beyond trying to find suitable clinical trials for Garrett to no avail. But Garrett was recently accepted by MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX for a second opinion in hopes they can provide a "fresh" set of eyes and some different, more effective treatment options. Garrett, Holly and I will be traveling out to Houston, TX in a little over a week for his initial visit with his care team. Financial support is needed to cover travel, meals, medical bills and other expenses as Garrett takes time away from his job to seek a definitive cure and end this long cancer journey he's been on.
