Help Floyd's Battle Against Liver Failure
Donation protected
Hello, everyone. My name is Vaiana and the man with me is Floyd, the love of my life, and he’s battling chronic liver disease, Cirrhosis. Over the last year he’s had countless trips to the ER for burst blood vessels (esophageal varices) resulting in him being intubated (breathing tube), multiple shunts and stents inserted to stop internal bleeding and several paracentesis for abdominal fluid build up causing pain… Despite his numerous near death experiences to the ER and painful procedures, Floyd, has never once complained, but rather is thankful for having lived the life he was given.
There’s hope! Floyd’s currently awaiting approval to be put on the liver transplant list, but I need to keep him alive until then. In the meantime he’s monitored by doctors regularly to ensure he will be strong enough to receive a transplant. My hope is to alleviate some of his burdens with this GoFundMe. Donations will help towards out-of-pocket medical expenses such as vital medications that insurance won’t cover, travel expenses to specialists and treatments also not covered by insurance and help with basic everyday needs that he is unable to take care of due to his limited mobility. If and when he receives a liver transplant his recovery will be lengthy making everyday tasks that much harder than they already are.
I HUMBLY ask for your help by donating. No amount is too small and anything is greatly appreciated. If you are unable to donate then I ask that you share this fundraiser across your socials. Floyd’s situation may resonate with someone who has personal experience with Cirrhosis or has a loved one who has gone through it. The side effects of such a disease are painful and life-threatening and we are running against the clock.
Most of you don’t know Floyd, but you do know me and I don’t often post things like this unless it’s near and dear to my heart. Floyd’s a Scorpio from the Pacific Northwest who grew up in a small town in Oregon fishing, hunting, foraging mushrooms and causing chaos, lol. He enjoys tinkering on cars, riding motorcycles, The Red Hot Chili Peppers and his Oregon Ducks. At first, Floyd can be a bit spicy, but he’s a big kid at heart who would give the shirt off his back should anyone need it. His wit is unparalleled coming in second only to my dad’s and he continues to make me laugh even during his hardest days. We’ve had our ups and downs over the years. Like when he told me about his hatred towards tomatoes and avocados I was certain our relationship was over, but we pushed through. Speaking of food, Floyd is a phenomenal cook who can whip up just about anything and make it look like a 5 star restaurant. The best is that he always keeps Haagen-Dazs chocolate ice cream in his freezer for me. What we do share is a love for animals, the outdoors, vintage cars and most importantly each other. What sealed the deal was when I asked him what his favorite movie was… Big Fish. Not a stereotypical answer like The Godfather or Billy Madison, but rather a whimsical tale of reconciliation between a father and son told by the one and only Tim Burton. That was the moment I fell in love. So, when he told me about his liver failure I knew there was nowhere else I wanted to be than by his side. I’m trying like hell to get him to the best hospitals, specialists and treatments possible to give him the best chance of survival because I’m not ready to say goodbye.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and beyond grateful to anyone who donates or shares. Hopefully, these efforts will help get me a few more years with Floyd❤️
