I adopted Fenrys (Fenny) from a nonprofit shelter a little over a month ago, my first cat ever. He is a one-year-old flamepoint domestic shorthair. I fell in love with his spazzy character and his zoomies, and with how he would still curl up with me frequently despite his high energy. He's an incredibly loving and playful kitty.

A week ago, on the night of Friday, May 24th, Fenny got very, very sick. He could barely walk or stand, felt very warm, and was extremely lethargic. While he had always been sweet when I held him, he previously didn't like to stay there for long normally and would hop down after a couple of minutes. I knew something was wrong when he immediately fell asleep in my arms.

I rushed him to an emergency vet, and they immediately suggested hospitalization, which I of course agreed to. He remained under veterinary care until Tuesday evening, a total of 4 nights. The vet techs later told me they were rather surprised he even survived, but my baby boy is a fighter.

He is now back home, eating and drinking, temperature normal. The only thing that hasn't returned is his spazzy energy, which I do hope comes back. He also may struggle with these issues for his entire life, including needing special food and medications to support his kidneys and liver.

While he is now home and recovering, I am now saddled with an additional $3,000 in debt to pay for his hospitalization and care. Unfortunately, I lost my job at the end of April, and have been hired to a new job but it hasn't started yet. Therefore, I have had no income this past month, so this vet bill has been even more crippling to me. My worst fear at this point is that he physically crashes again, and I will need to pay another $3,000 or more.
