Join Erik's Fight: A Long Road to Recovery

Donation protected
Hello all, I'm not really sure where to begin.

I'm sure a lot of you have heard about the major motorcycle accident Friday night, April 18, 2025, on Interstate 35W in Fort Worth, which involved 17 riders; 4 were critical, some were serious and some were minor, he was one of the 4 critical.

We believe, Erik was the second rider to go down. He has extensive injuries to his left wrist and left lower leg. The left wrist has torn ligaments and tendons and was at a 45 degree angle. Per his hand surgeon, he considered this as a top 10 worst cases he's seen in his career. The tibia and fibula on the left lower leg has multiple breaks in each and, at least, one maybe two severed arteries out of the three. If the other riders and passersby's didn't react as quickly as they did, he would no longer be with us. We are now being told that he cannot bear weight on his right leg due to some broken toes as well, so he is now working with one good arm.

When Erik arrived at the ER he was a John Doe, due to that the name MikeNovember was assigned to him until they could verify his identity.

Erik had his first surgery on his leg Saturday morning to stabilize his leg. His second surgery was Monday morning and they put pins in to put the wrist bones back where they belong and do some tendon/ligament repairs. The third surgery, second surgery on his leg, is schedule for Friday to reconstruct his bones and muscles.

Erik does not have medical insurance. His employer switched carriers and the email was sent to an email address not frequently used, because most all communication goes to his personal email, and was two days too late for his medical insurance elections. He did reach out to HR to discuss and try to get on, but was denied. I tried to add him to mine, but I was out of open enrollment as well.

Erik has many more surgeries and a very long recovery ahead. I believe I will be taking FMLA to be able to take care of him uninterrupted by work.

We are very grateful he is still here with us and we thank God everyday. We welcome all prayers and positive vibes.
