My name is Erica.

I am raising funds for my Sweet 10yr old Pit/Lab Mix Angus Young (aka Angus Beef). I adopted Angus when he was a year 1/2, best shelter boy ever. I got him my last year as a teen. He’s been my soul dog ever since.

Angus unfortunately needs a TPLO procedure (tibial plateau leveling osteotomy) which stabilizes the knee joint after a cranial cruciate ligament (CCL) injury. This is very common in bully breeds, it will happen at any given moment but mostly with age and the success rate once the procedure is performed, is high!

Angus has been on strict rest. We have been doing short, controlled leash walks. He has been on Gabapentin for pain, Non steroidal anti inflammatories, joint supplements, omega 3 fatty acids and we’ve even been doing at home physical therapy. Unfortunately being on anti inflammatories long term can affect the kidney and liver, so he cannot be on them forever or we will face more serious problems.

My boy is still as spunky as ever but just doesn’t understand he cannot be the same dog he once was. The poor guy just wants to run and play again with all of his buddies.

I cannot bare to even think about euthanasia just because I cannot afford his procedure (it’s not an option). I also can’t just adopt my boy out to someone who could afford his medical care, that just doesn’t sit right with me being that I’ve had him for the past 9 years.

I am a veterinary technician who unfortunately doesn’t make people nurse money. Good news is, I do get discounts on pet care just not as much as one would think.

I love what I do. I am passionate in helping others save their animals. I don’t just do it for the money or to see “cute puppies and kittens all day.” It’s much more intense than people think/say.

I am not one to ask for handouts but unfortunately this isn’t an equal opportunity world we live in. I would give the shirt off of my back to help those I love and care about no doubt.
