Celebrating 10 Years of Ensemble Lyrae

Hello! We’re Ensemble Lyrae, a Boston-based women’s chamber ensemble celebrating our 10th Anniversary Season!

For a decade, Ensemble Lyrae has believed in the power of music to inspire, connect, challenge, and create change. Our mission is to illuminate unknown and under-performed works by women, for women, and about women, while also exploring music that gives voice to ideas of justice, equality, unity, and our shared human experience.

This milestone season, Evolutions and Revolutions, celebrates both where we have been and where we are going. We’ll look back at music, artists, and collaborations that have shaped Ensemble Lyrae over the past ten years while exploring the many ways that music—and the world around it—evolves, transforms, and sometimes undergoes revolution.

As we celebrate a decade of making music together, we invite you to be part of what comes next.

Who are we?

Inspired by the natural beauty and brilliance of the constellation Lyra, Ensemble Lyrae brings together distinctive individual musical voices to create something even more powerful collectively.

Since our founding in 2016, we have built programs around relevant and thought-provoking themes, rediscovered music deserving of a wider audience, championed the work of women composers and poets, and premiered new works written specifically for Ensemble Lyrae. Along the way, our ensemble itself has evolved—welcoming collaborators, exploring new repertoire and configurations, and continually discovering new possibilities for what a small vocal ensemble can be.

Whether performing in a spacious concert hall or an intimate salon setting, Ensemble Lyrae seeks to enliven the senses, engage the imagination, and create a meaningful connection between performers, music, and audience.

Over the past decade, Ensemble Lyrae has appeared on concert series including Music at Norway Pond and Music at Whitehead and has received support from the Medford Arts Council and Mass Cultural Council, helping us bring programs such as Nevertheless, She Persisted into the community. In 2022, we were featured performers for Christmas at Mechanics at Worcester’s historic Mechanics Hall.

And now, as we enter our 10th Anniversary Season, Evolutions and Revolutions, we are reflecting on everything that brought us here while imagining what Ensemble Lyrae can become in its next decade.

We hope you’ll consider supporting Ensemble Lyrae during this momentous season. Every gift—at every level—helps us take artistic risks, support musicians and composers, rediscover extraordinary music, and create new work that might not exist without your generosity.

Ten years of music. Ten years of connection. Ten years of evolution.

Thank you for helping us begin the next chapter.
