For over a year, our bright light that is Emily Krueger (aka Velvettica) has been silently battling a mysterious illness: brain fog, debilitating stomach pain, joint aches, and exhaustion that dulled even her brightest moments. Multiple rounds of bloodwork yielded alarming results—markers more typical of a cancer patient than a thriving young artist.

It wasn’t until recently that Emily connected the dots: the breast implants she received years ago, in pursuit of beauty as defined by a patriarchal lens, were likely the root cause of her suffering. This realization shook her—but it also awakened a deeper truth.

Emily got implants as so many do: in search of worth, of desirability, of power in a world that told her her natural self wasn’t enough. But now, as her body cries out for healing, she’s choosing to listen. She’s choosing herself.

Emily is undergoing breast explant surgery to heal her body and reclaim her true self. In doing so, she hopes to shine a light on breast implant illness and encourage others to embrace their authenticity over societal expectations.
