Here we go again! Another FIP story, but this one is a bit different...
FIP treatment is not for the faint of heart. If you don't know us, we lost a boy, Ari, to FIP in 2022 after eight days of treatment--we lost him because we didn't understand the process and likely started too late. We then treated two more, successfully, Sammy and Joey! And if truth be told, we believe one of our first kitties, Minnie, who came before all the boys, probably had it back in 2021 but was misdiagnosed. We'll never know, but now that we are so much more knowledgeable, we understand the ugly beast that is FIP. And with that, we know what to do to try to beat it.
So this beauty is Eloise. We've been fortunate to welcome this wonderful purebred Maine Coon into our hearts, home, and fur family because her owner could not take on the 84 days of treatment. Having been through it before, it was just not within her ability to do so. Enter the crazy cat parents of the Kitty Krew, Wayne and Stephanie! Will we ever say no?
Eloise has the dry/ocular form of FIP as you can see from the photo. We are still getting to know this girl. She came here after prematurely losing her pregnancy on a plane from Russia to the US. I know little of her life before and only that she is about a year old. She then spent three weeks with her new owner before coming to us quite ill, underweight, and scared. We just started treatment, however, and she is showing signs of improvement.
Can you help?
We are so appreciative if you've taken the time to read this. Eloise makes us fourth-timers in treating FIP and we are so hopeful this girl will recover and become the best new addition to our feline menagerie!
As always, every little bit helps. Medication, blood work, follow-ups, and any additional and unforeseen issues are what we can expect to save this special newbie. Please also consider sharing, because of course, sharing is caring!
Much love, Eloise, Stephanie, Wayne & the whole Kitty Krew!
