Support U.A.W. Activity Amongst The Rank & File

Absenteeism. Low morale. Reduced productivity. Anxiety. Employee Burnout. Lack of support. Poor work/life balance. Physical/ Mental strain are all symptoms of a Hostile Work Environment that we experience on the plant floor, that our union has failed to properly represent us against.


This is a Rank & File Member story.


This is the story of all workers, as we deserve to leave work with the same dignity and respect for ourselves that we arrive with.


As a Rank & File member in Sterling Heights Assembly Plant, I Derrick Mays have worked to utilize Protected Activity to improve our working conditions on the floor since becoming full time April 23rd, 2018.


Within our Collective Bargaining rights, Local contract, By-Laws, the NLRA, Protected Concerted Activity rights I have called for/led in organizing Rank & File members to assume the responsibility of being directly involved with improvements we want to see on the plant floor.


I have created and circulated plantwide petitions, contract proposals, group grievances. Fought for change within By-laws & Civil Rights Commitee's. Led Recall on unenthusiastic entrenched Chief Steward. Protested in favor of member rights in front of company and local/ regional/ international union over two dozen times. Ran in five elections while being Wrongfully Terminated. Fought for and won $120,000 for my first Wrongful Termination. I am the first ever candidate to campaign on company premises while being Wrongfully Terminated. I just won our first ever UAW local 1700 Conduct Unbecoming A Union Member trial against a "popular" vice president.


My fight against Excessive Discipline, Discrimination, Retaliation during this second consecutive Wrongful Termination has been going on for a year and a half, after being targeted while a candidate in our local union election.


In the title video from a previous campaign, a labor rep illustrates the company's disdain for labor rights. She travels almost 1000 feet from the HR office to the public sidewalk, while being escorted by security in an effort to confront me on union activity.


As usual, the company is unwilling to negotiate in good faith. I was targeted, denied due process by a (complicit union representation) made to be an example for other's daring to organize in the workplace. I'm asking for support in this historic stand in the form of a donation, which is the loudest support you can give....and the one support they can't deny
