The Story Behind the Support

When I received the call that my sister, Donna, had suffered a (major) Stroke and is in the hospital, my heart sank with grief. This time the stroke robbed her of speech, walking and the deficit of her all left side including swallowing liquids.

In the last few years I have watched her go down hill…nothing but small strokes that fed in to this large that robbed her ability to properly lead a normal life and even her memory needs to be restored.

Even if she spent the last few weeks in the hospital/rehab she is still in need of medical equipment that is not covered by insurance…that will help towards her recovery.

She is in need of Grabbers for the shower and a Shower chair. Where she lives, the bath tub is deep so the side is to high to lift her legs. The grabbars will also help with balance into the shower.

She is walking well only with a walker which helps for balance. Another medical equipment that is strongly needed is a Scooter or Electric Wheelchair. She may be walking better, she can only walk so far than her leg gives out on her. So the scooter or wheelchair will help for the “ long distance” walking.

As you see, the few I mentioned is greatly needed & quickly. So any help that you can provide is greatly appreciated, and please share this fundraising with your friends too.

2025 May- update Donnas progress

Donna has improved greatly. She is walking better, talking better & moving her arm & hand better, although still can’t grab and hold onto anything.

She has been with me working of being self sufficient and to be more confident with stairs. I did take her to camp Kulaqua.!she met many of my church friends, she enjoyed the Praise team and speakers. She learned how to use the electric wheelchair. One of the items she will be needing.

She is currently in the hospital. She lost her balance while trying to pick up a burrito. She laid there for about 8hours because her phone died. I was out at a clients home. We, of course, called 911. She has been here now two weeks. She will be transferred to Solaris Rehabilitation soon.

She is not in the hospital because her stroke, she is here due to her pancreas, plus issue's now a blood pressure.

However, through all this we really saw how much is needed that will work towards for her recovery.
