My big brother, David, passed peacefully in the arms of myself, my father and my mother at 5:55 this morning.

Dave,

I had this big, VERY BIG, note written that I was going to post when the time came. But truly, there are no words to describe how amazing of a person you were, and there will never be words to describe how we are feeling right now without you. Honestly, we are numb. We’re missing a piece of our puzzle without you. I am truly thankful that you felt enough at peace with me to allow me to hold you until the end. I will remember that forever. I do not have a doubt in my mind that you got into heaven, and I believe you are already using that awesome angel power and sprinkling some tech knowledge on me down here. I fixed my camera! All by myself! You would be so, so proud of me. I will never let anyone forget about you. That’s a promise.

We’re Neith’s. From the womb, to the tomb.

Love you forever and more
Love, your little sis

11/25/2024 Update
It is with the heaviest heart that I have to say, David is being moved to hospice care. I am not going to go into much detail, but there is simply nothing more they can do to help him, other than keep him comfortable. David is not fully aware that he will be moved, and we intend to keep it that way.

It brings us so much joy to see everyone come together for Dave. We hoped to never change the purpose of this GoFundMe, but all donations will now go towards Hospice Care and future Funeral Costs.

My family and I want to thank each and everyone of you. From the bottom of our hearts. David is the best person I know and does not deserve any of this. Yet, he still starts each day with a smile. I will continue to keep everyone updated.

Love, David’s Sister

As many, if not all, of you know… David has been a fighter since he was 9 months old. Diagnosed with HUS (Kidney Disease) so young, receiving a kidney transplant 16 YEARS AGO - and now, has been diagnosed with Stage 4 Esophageal Cancer, in addition to having his HUS return.

David and his amazing Oncology Team have planned the following:

They will start a new medication for kidney disease (Empagliflozin) tomorrow. He will take it weekly, for an extended period of time.

They will start Chemotherapy as early as Friday, in the hospital. Their hope is to have David discharged from the hospital in the next few weeks (HOORAY!) to start outpatient chemo. They will place a Mediport for chemo in his chest, and he will have a “bag” that slow releases the drug over a 48-hour period. On the third day - he will return to the hospital to have the “bag” removed. Then, starts the process again about a week and a half later.
As David’s Oncologist said “This is not CURABLE, but it is TREATABLE”.

This is going to be a long journey - but as I have already told David - F%&K CANCER!

The outpour of love we have received over these last two weeks is absolutely amazing, and it truly brings us so much joy and hope. I promise to give updates for everyone to follow along with his journey. It is clear to our family that SO MANY people truly care about Dave.

David is literally ONE-OF-A-KIND and if anyone can fight this - it’s HIM!

This GoFundMe is to support my brother in absolutely anyway we can. For any unexpected cost (WOW this is expensive). Absolutely anything helps - THANK YOU for loving Dave and our family!
