Hello, my name is Courtney Conway. I am the daughter of David Conway. I have started this GoFundMe in order to help my parents and our family during a challenging period. In November 2021, my father, David Conway, received a daunting diagnosis of Stage 4 Soft Tissue Sarcoma Cancer, with a prognosis of just one year to live. We were warned by his team of doctors that this battle would be like no other; it will be very aggressive, and it will be tough. They were not wrong. Over the course of the last two and half years, my dad has undergone countless rounds of chemotherapy and radiation, as well as 2 surgeries to help rid his body of this horrible disease. Navigating this tumultuous path has tested our faith and resilience in ways we never imagined. We've faced heart-wrenching moments alongside glimmers of hope-filled moments of joy. Unless you've experienced it firsthand, it's impossible to fully grasp the emotional rollercoaster these trials entail.
This type of cancer is extremely aggressive and has been said to be incurable. Yet, my dad continues to fight with EVERYTHING he has as he is still here today!
The last couple of months have been very difficult for my dad as he has been in debilitating pain, resulting in the use of a wheelchair due to any standing of more than a couple minutes leaving him convulsing in unbearable pain. A little over a week ago, his latest PET scan results came back with more unfavorable results as the cancer has once again spread. The cancer has flooded his left leg, while the believed original source of the cancer located near his pelvis has massively grown and is now attached to his L5 vertebra, as well as causing bladder issues. The doctors have stated that it is worse than it was when they originally diagnosed him. Therefore, we are up against another fierce battle with chemo. On Wednesday, May 29, 2024, my dad will begin a biweekly chemotherapy regimen that will last until the beginning of September. His team of doctors feel that this is his best chance at alleviating his pain and prolonging his chance of survival. We are hopeful that this next chemo combination will make a positive impact in eradicating his cancer with minimal side effects, as the last nearly 9 months of chemo was ineffective at both.
My dad is by far the toughest and strongest person that I know, an absolute miracle clothed in humility and grace. He has never been known to give up a fight, and he sure is not going to start now. His motto for this battle is "I have no quit in me because God is in control." This is not going to be an easy battle, but we are blessed beyond measure to have the support system we have. Even in the darkness, there is light, and we are going to do everything in our power to keep it bright as we know God is in control. His doctors have said it best at the peaks of this journey, “we are witnessing a miracle!”
So, please keep the prayers coming as he continues the fight of a lifetime, for a lifetime! If you are willing and able to support financially, anything and everything is gratefully appreciated.
