In March 2025, David Mazor suffered a devastating stroke. What followed was months of intense rehabilitation, determination, and grit. Through sheer strength and perseverance, Dave fought his way back. He returned to work in an office position, regained his ability to walk, drive, and was living a full and independent life again. It felt like hope had won.

But in the fall, new symptoms began to appear — persistent headaches and difficulty with movement on his left side. Concerned, Dave underwent surgery in October. Doctors initially believed they were removing scar tissue from the original stroke.

Instead, surgeons discovered something no one was prepared for: a tumor.

David was diagnosed with Stage 4 glioblastoma — an aggressive form of brain cancer. He immediately began the standard of care treatment: surgery followed by chemotherapy and radiation. Despite enduring this grueling process with courage, the disease has taken an enormous toll.

Since treatment, Dave has lost movement on his left side and is now in a wheelchair. He faces daily challenges with physical strength, emotional regulation, and cognitive function. Every day is a battle that requires resilience most of us can’t imagine.

This is where Dave’s village comes in.

There are specialized oncologists who focus specifically on glioblastoma. There are neuro-focused physical therapists trained to work exclusively with brain injury and tumor patients. There are skilled aides experienced in supporting oncology patients with daily living needs. These services could significantly improve Dave’s quality of life and help him preserve meaningful time with his beloved daughter, Bella.

Unfortunately, many of these critical supports are not covered by insurance and require substantial out-of-pocket costs.
