My dear friends Danielle Dunnagan and Kalen Jack are over the moon to be having twin girls due in July. Unfortunately, on February 6th, they had the anatomy scan where LiLy (baby A) was diagnosed with a rare heart condition called “Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome”, which means her left ventricle is not growing and is very small.

The result of this news means delivery at Duke Hospital and spending a month or so at Duke while baby Lily has her first open-heart surgery of three and recovers. The first surgery is called the “Norwood procedure,” a surgery which begins the process to reroute the blood flow in her heart, followed by two more open-heart surgeries. The second procedure at 4-6 months and third at 2-4 years.

Although hearing this news was hard, Kalen and Danielle are ready to fight alongside their girls. Kalen and Danielle appreciate any and all your support!
