Hello friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers,

My name is Despina, and I'm reaching out on behalf of my beloved brother, Damianos, a 43-year-old father, husband, and kind soul who is currently fighting for his life after a serious neurosurgery.

Just days before this, we were celebrating his son Mario's 5th birthday- none of us could have imagined how quickly life would change.

On May 22, 2025, Damianos underwent an emergency surgery to remove an ependymoma Grade B tumor, which was successfully removed. Still, complications during surgery led to brain swelling, and he has been in the ICU ever since, fighting bravely with the help of machines to breathe and eat.

Every small sign gives us hope. He has opened his eyes, written short questions like "When?", and shed tears when he sees his family. These are signs of consciousness returning. But the road ahead is long. Damianos will need intensive rehabilitation, therapies, and specialized care to regain mobility, breathing, and speech.
