Join Dale Johnson's Journey to Recovery

Hello. I’m Gretchen Anderson, sister of Dale Johnson. I have never created a GoFundMe. Please bear with me.

Dale exhibited swelling of lymph nodes on the left side of his neck. We felt this was due to dental issues, which were addressed in February. The swelling remained. An ultrasound was ordered and performed. We received a call the following day that a CT scan was needed that same evening. We received a call hours later: Squamous Cell Carcinoma. Specialists were immediately sought, appointments were made, prayer chains begun.

We have begun at the cancer center with the hopes of a regimented seven weeks of daily radiation and weekly chemo. A PET scan took place this morning to determine stage and a full structural view. Tomorrow morning, Dale will have somewhat of an exploration surgery and biopsy of the mass, along with surrounding structures/sinus cavity. We are hopeful robotic removal will not be required. I never thought we would find ourselves praying for only radiation and chemotherapy. If blessed with this route, it will include additional surgery for a PICC line and temporary feeding tube to be placed.
