Connor was diagnosed with an ear infection on Monday February 10th and started antibiotics. By Wednesday, not much improvement was seen. Thursday morning, his parents noticed swelling behind his left ear and immediately took him to Children’s Hospital in Plano.
Connor was admitted to Children’s Plano on Thursday, February 14th and began to undergo testing.
It was found that Connor had mastoiditis as a result of the ear infection. In addition, he had developed an epidural abscess.
Connor was transported from Children’s Plano to Children’s Dallas on Friday-Valentine’s Day to undergo surgery.
Connor had surgery Saturday morning, February 15th.
After surgery, we found out he was at risk for MRSA (which has now been cleared) and that there is risk for thrombosis in an artery in his brain.
Due to laryngospasms, he will be unable to have the MRI to check on the clot until Monday February 17th.
They are still looking at several more days at Children’s Dallas to find the correct antibiotic routine (which will continue for at least 3 weeks) to make sure the infection is completely clear.
Through all this time, their lives have been halted. Mom and Dad can’t work, are living on fast food, and driving an hour one way to take care of their other 3 children at home. This takes a huge financial toll on them. Anything you would like to give to help ease the burden is greatly appreciated.
Love,
GiGi
