Hi, my name is Christine. I am a single parent of two beautiful children, Bella and Oscar. I have been in the hospital for 3 weeks and need to be transferred into a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) for an additional 2 weeks, if not longer, to help with my mobility rehabilitation. My copay for the SNF is $900 a week. This does not include my other hospital expenses from being in the hospital, multiple surgeries, and blood transfusions.

I have a condition called Lipedema. I am stage 3 and 4. Lipedema is an abnormal accumulation of fat deposits with multiple hard nodules in the legs, arms, and abdominal area, sparing my hands and feet. I have had this condition since I was 12 years old and was diagnosed 8 years ago. Lipedema is a rare condition which has made it difficult to find a surgeon and led me to get the surgery done in Dallas by a provider who is willing to work with my insurance company and is knowledgeable in Lipedema to prevent further damage to my lymphatic system. Being in the hospital for 3 weeks is the result of multiple serious complications, including 5 blood transfusions, seromas, wound VAC, and low mobility. I have insurance with a very high deductible.
