Chloe was born with a very rare, life-threatening liver disease called Biliary Atresia. In which the bile ducts to her liver were absent, causing bile flow from the liver to the intestines to become blocked and trapped inside the liver. A progressive condition that leads to cirrhosis and liver failure, and is often fatal without a liver transplant.

When Chloe was just two weeks old her journey with biliary atresia begun. She underwent an extensive surgery to buy her more time while she waited for a liver transplant. She had multiple doctor visits, procedures, complications, and sickness due to her liver disease which led to many hospital stays. Finally Chloe received her life-saving liver transplant when she was a year old. For the past 9 years, Chloe has had to be on antirejection medication which suppresses her immune system, and a whole long list of other medication’s to keep her liver working properly. She’s had to have repeat labs every 2 to 3 months and continual doctor appointments to monitor her liver and to keep it healthy and stable.

Recently, the doctors discovered that Chloe’s bile ducts have been narrowing, which has been causing decreased bile flow and causing the bile to back up into her liver again. She had a 5 hour surgery in hopes to widen her bile ducts and regain flow, but her ducts were so tightly closed off there was nothing the surgeons could do and the only solution left was to immediately put Chloe on the liver transplant list again.

The Drs have been trying to keep Chloe stable at home but in the last month has been in and out of the hospital. She has two bile duct drains in her stomach and a PICC line and is receiving home health care.

Biliary Atresia and Liver transplantation is a lifelong battle with lots of unknowns and typical bouts of complications along the way. Transplant recipients face many challenges such as rejection, loss of immunity due to immune suppressant medications to help the body accept the new donor liver, potential narrowing of the portal veins decreasing blood flow to the liver and narrowing/blockage of the bile ducts which require additional surgeries, but isn’t always successful.

The road ahead is long, and the journey is far from over. Chloe will have another long road to recovery with continuous medical care. After Chloe’s transplant surgery she will have a long hospital stay, ongoing treatments, require several medications, and many follow up appointments. I'm a single mother of six children and will need to take time off from work as I juggle the many medical requirements and challenges for Chloes care, and the care of my other five children.

This has been an emotionally trying time as my family learns how to navigate the reality of a second transplant for our sweet Chloe Bear.

We’re asking for your help to help lighten the load and ease some of the burden of the ongoing and overwhelming medical expenses so I can focus on Chloe’s pre and post transplant care and recovery without worrying about all the cost associated with it.

Please consider donating, sharing and sending love and prayers to Chloe and my family.
We appreciate any support you are able to give. It truly takes a village.

Thank you so much for your support.
