Dear Family and Friends,
As many of you know, my health took an unexpected turn last April when I began experiencing severe reflux, progressive difficulty swallowing, nausea, and vomiting. After a visit to my doctor, I was referred to a GI specialist. Unfortunately, the soonest available appointment was nearly three months away.
As my condition worsened, I developed pain and muscle weakness, which affected my work performance and overall quality of life. Desperate for answers, I went to the ER, only to be told that my situation was an “outpatient issue.” Over the next few months, after several more ER visits and weight loss of over 40 pounds, I was finally admitted to the hospital. By that point, I could no longer swallow even small sips of water.
After undergoing tests, I was diagnosed with stage 3 esophageal cancer. My world was turned upside down in an instant, and I found myself facing a new reality. Initially, I asked, “Why me?” But soon, my perspective shifted to “Why not me?” I realized that this journey, as difficult as it is, could become a testimony to inspire others.
My treatment plan has included chemotherapy, radiation, and a surgery called an esophagectomy. For now, I rely on a feeding tube for nutrition, as I’m unable to eat solid food. Despite these challenges, I remain optimistic and deeply rooted in faith. I believe that my positive outlook and trust in God are carrying me through this trial. I’m looking forward to the day—just weeks away—when I can eat solid food again as I celebrate being cancer-free!
I’m profoundly grateful for the love, prayers, and support I’ve received from my family and friends. However, I am facing financial hardship as I navigate this battle. I don’t have short- or long-term disability benefits through my employer, and the mounting medical bills, coupled with my inability to work, have created significant financial strain.
If you’re able, I would be deeply appreciative of any support—no matter how small—to help ease this burden. Your generosity means the world to me, and I look forward to paying it forward once I regain my health and strength.
Thank you for walking this journey with me. Your kindness and prayers sustain me every step of the way.
With gratitude,
