Join Charlene Taylor-Hussynec in her 2nd battle with cancer

My name is Glenda Wilson and I have setup this fundraiser on behalf of friends and family for our cherished friend and family member, Charlene (Taylor) Hussynec from Fort McMurray, AB.

This spirited, bright soul is facing her 2nd battle with cancer and I’m reaching out with a heartfelt request asking friends, family and individuals to rally behind Charlene.

Charlene has been a courageous and fearless women in her first battle with cancer and you need look no further than her facebook page to see how she supports and inspires others facing their cancer journeys. She has always been the first one to step forward when someone needs help.

Charlene is 58 yrs old, she is a mother of 2 children and grandmother of 4. She has been a sparkling light in the lives of her family and friends. Her colorful character, sense of humor and quick wit has brought smiles and laughter to many of us throughout our lives!

In 2019 Charlene was diagnosed with stage 3 cancer. She had a right breast mastectomy, and 19 cancerous lymph nodes removed after 21 rounds of radiation.

In December of 2024, Charlene developed a sore back and was having trouble walking. She suspected that something was wrong and insisted on being tested for cancer. At the end of June, she received the news that she has stage 4 cancer. The cancer has metastasized to her bones and her back with spots on her lungs and possibly her liver. On July 7th she started radiation, having received 5 rounds to date with more scheduled in the weeks to come.

Currently, Charlene is unable to work. She lives in Fort McMurray and commutes to Edmonton for radiation treatment. Charlene does not have a driver’s license so getting to her appointments is challenging and costly.

While fiercely independent and reluctant to ask for help, funds raised will help her with the following:

-unpaid leave from work

-costs of travel

-medications/treatments/supplies/therapeutic supports

-home care (if needed)

-living expenses

This will give Charlene the ability to focus on resting, healing and recovery.

As Charlene gears up to fight her 2nd battle with cancer, I want to ensure that she feels supported in every way. With words of encouragement and/or donations, no matter the amount, we can pull her through this together and remind Charlene that she is deeply loved and never alone.
