Join Chantz's Fight Against Ewing Sarcoma

Approximately 2 months ago, Chantz thought he had the flu or maybe COVID-19, with symptoms such as body aches and fever. He went to the doctor and Chantz’s labs were concerning, so he was referred to hematology/oncology. 

Chantz has been diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called Ewing Sarcoma. Chantz is 30 years old and this is not the normal case as this type of cancer is not only rare but usually is found in children. Sanford has referred him to the Mayo hospital where he can be seen and treated by pathologists and oncologists who specialize in this type of small round blue cell cancer. Thankfully, his Sioux Falls Oncologist is consulting with colleagues to determine the appropriate immediate treatment plan while we wait to be seen at Mayo. 

Chantz has started chemotherapy treatment and has completed a PET scan to determine a baseline for the treatment. 

We are all still trying to process what this means and do not have all the answers today. We do know that we will do whatever is needed for treatment and ensure Chantz has the best care!

We did start a caring bridge site as well so we can have one spot to provide updates, as we do appreciate all the love, support, and prayers as we continue this journey.
