Our sweet Caylee was diagnosed with a rare blood disorder four years ago, and has been receiving treatments in and out of the hospital ever since. In the past month, Caylee has been through it. Due to extremely low hemoglobin levels and platelets, she has had to have several transfusions, many of which are not covered by insurance. Recently, Caylee was readmitted to Children’s Hospital due to complications of her disorder. Because her platelets have been so low for so long, she is now at risk for strokes, bleeds, and worse. They finally have approved her for a chemotherapy treatment, but the costs are astronomical and insurance doesn’t cover enough of what is necessary for Caylee to live with this disorder.
