Hi, my name is Cathy Climis. I am starting a go fund me for my husband Kevin Climis.
Kevin has been my rock, partner, best fiend for 8 years now.
Back in October of 2023 Kevin went in to the hospital with a real fast and irregular heart rate had gotten up in the mid 200's. Medications were not helping with the condition. He had to have an AICD (pacemaker/defibrillator) placed in his chest.
This January 10th he went in the hospital for the same thing. His AICD couldn't correct the rate or the rhythm. In the ER that night he was given 7 different medications. Non of them worked, so he was cardioverted, and spent the weekend in the hospital. In the cardiac ICU. The cardiologists in the hospital changed his medications, sent him home on Monday the 13th. Kevin got scheduled for an ablation(cauterization of the heart) for February 12.
I got him home that evening and within 3 hours he was back in the hospital. His AICD shocked him. The ER doctors tried different 3 IV medications that did not work, so they had to manually shock him. He was readmitted to the cardiac ICU. The doctors changed his medication again. Kevin was discharged a couple of days later. Friday the 17th, and once again not even 3 hours after getting him home. He was once again back in the ER. The AICD shocked him the doctor shocked him. The cardiologist came to me in the lobby saying "Kevin needs to be flown to a hospital in Aurora Colorado to have the ablation done. Kevin won't make it to February 12 to have it done here."
Kevin was flown via MARC Air to the Anschutz Medical Campus in Colorado. Long story made short Kevin had gotten shocked a 12-14 times before he was able to get the ablation done. The ablation area is not as small as a .50 piece but almost the size of a silver dollar.
Kevin is home now recovering. We have no idea if Medicare is even going to cover any of the ambulance rides or how much of the hospital 2 stays in South Dakota, the flight to Aurora Colorado, and the hospital stay in Colorado.
We are so thankful for all of the doctors and nurses in Colorado. Dr. Kipse, his staff.
I am very thankful for Sam Speed, Vince Gilbert, and Dr. Putz here in South Dakota; for all of your work and taking care Kevin. I appreciate all of the health care providers for taking such great care of my wonderful husband.
I thank the lord everyday for being able to spend more time with Kevin holding his hand and just being able to have him by my side.
