Join Cassie's Fight for a Healthy Life

Cassie is an 11-year-old chihuahua mix. She belonged to my grandmother, who after multiple strokes became bedridden for the last two and a half years. During this time, she was unable to care for Cassie as needed and the family was unable to help. Before she passed in April, Nannie asked me to take care of her beloved dog, Cassie. I promised her I would and after the funeral brought Cassie home to Southern California from Oklahoma. I immediately brought her to the vet for a check up and we found out she had multiple problems. She had an anal sac infection which required antibiotics, they found two years of wax build up in her ears that cannot be cleaned until she is under anesthesia, mammary tumors from being unspayed, and most of her teeth rotting out causing pain, infection, and trouble eating. Cassie is a bright, sweet, loving dog who deserves the longest life. She loves to chase the chickens, and play with the other dogs including a 20-year-old special needs chihuahua and a 100-pound Great Pyrenees who protects her and loves her. Cassie loves to play with toys, cuddle, and always gives kisses. She is the definition of a “Velcro dog” and always needs to be with her people. On our road-trip from Oklahoma, she made friends with every person she met at the various gas stops. This is a dog who is full of life, love, and light and has many years left with the proper care. We are committed to getting her healthy and giving her the best life possible, just like Nannie wanted. We didn’t want to ask for help, but Nannie did not have life insurance and paying for her funeral expenses in April drained all of our savings. We had to pay to bury the most incredible woman who ever lived, and now we are trying desperately to save her dog, her baby, Cassie. She loved Cassie with her whole heart and I promised her I would do everything I could to take care of her. We love Cassie so much and any help would be appreciated. We just want to get Cassie all of the surgeries she needs. She is already scheduled for surgery at the end of July.
