On December 17, 2020 this “Gentle Giant” brought us ALL to our knees when he had not one but two massive strokes in his brain just two days before he was supposed to travel to North Carolina with Nancy and Jenn to spend Christmas with Sammy. It’s no secret Carl had his fair share of heart issues but this was most shocking because just a month prior he received the best check up report from his heart doctor in years. You often hear the expression “He would give you the shirt off his own back” but this saying has NEVER rang more true of a person. Carl, or as many of us know him as “The Mayor," is one of the kindest, heart warming people you will ever meet. He would do anything in his power to brighten a child’s day. He also holds a special place in his heart for veterans. He was always quick to step up and lend a helping hand for organizations and events to help those in a time of need. I wouldn’t be surprised if you’ve attended a fundraiser and saw Carl there cooking a pig in support of the event, I know I’ve been to a few. Carl has also donated his time at Huck Finn weekend to teach the youth how to fish, and in his towing days participated in Pleasant Valley Weekend. You can only imagine what his incredibly loving family has gone through these past six long months, not only emotionally but financially. While Carl has overcome huge hurdles in his recovery, he still has a long road to recovery ahead of him. We have all rallied behind Carl and his family with our prayers and now I ask you to rally behind them in this fundraiser.
