Hey my name is Rhonda but everyone calls me Candi. I have been avoiding asking for help throughout my journey but in this current season I require it. In 2020 I found out I had breast cancer, went through treatment & thought I had made it out of the woods as a breast cancer warrior. But in Jan 2025 I received some life changing news. I began having debilitating migraines and dizzy spells that made me go get checked out at the hospital. During this admission into the hospital, they found a mass on my brain. I had brain surgery to remove the mass and after testing I was told that it was cancerous, specifically Leptomeningeal Cancer. After making it through the surgery, a few weeks later another mass was found on my spine, which was also cancerous. At this point I was diagnosed with Leptomeningeal metastasis (meaning the cancer had spread to other areas of my body). I wanted to live so I began aggressive treatment. During this treatment, I lost the ability to walk for two months and was placed in rehab. Now by the grace of God and my diligent physical therapy team, I am now able to walk short distances with my rollator device. During this journey, I have had several hospital admissions and even a rehab facility stay which I’ve since been discharged from into my home. I am currently struggling to find help with home care and the other services I need to be healthy and safe at home. I am currently on the list with Cicoa but the list is backed up due to funding and there is no eta on when I will be approved for services (I was told by the caseworker, that some people have been waiting on this list for more than a year). My bestfriend has been helping me with my care as much as she can but I am in need of help. I have exhausted all of my savings and there are still things I need to ensure I can have the best quality of life while I battle this life altering diagnosis. I humbly ask for help with the costs of home health services, funding to get back and forth to my appointments which occur several times per week. And I also am asking for help with my funeral costs. I know that this disease has a terrorizing prognosis and I also know that God has the final say but if this disease takes my life, I want to make sure that my best friend has what she needs to lay me to rest. I do not want to burden my friend with the worries of how to bury me but I am also not in a financial position to make those arrangements. I understand that everyone is going through hard times in life right now so please know that absolutely anything you can donate will be a blessing. For those who feel so inclined, please send up a prayer for healing on my behalf, I would love nothing more than to live a healthy and fulfilled life, watch my grandchildren grow up, and make more memories in this world. Thank you in advance!
