Join Cameron's Village for Autism Support

Hello everyone,

Thank you for taking the time to click this link and read about one of my favorite little people on the planet. If you know me, you will have heard about Cameron from me. He was one of my first students at PDO, and we instantly clicked. He has such a special place in my heart; I love him and his whole family.

Cameron has always been his own person. He is silly, sweet, cuddly, and has the best "happy hands". This past year, Cameron officially received the diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder, Level 2. He started going to school with Midway ISD's special populations program half a day and has done well. He is currently on the wait list for Thrive Behavioral Consulting for ABA Therapy. This therapy is a full-time intensive program.

For those who don't know, I took this straight from Thrive's page to help explain what ABA therapy is:

"ABA is based on the science of learning and behavior. This science includes general laws about how behavior works for all of us- and how learning takes place. ABA therapy applies these laws in a way that helps to increase useful or desired behaviors. ABA also applies these laws to help reduce behaviors that may interfere with learning or behaviors that may be harmful (Functions of Behavior).

Socially significant behaviors include (& are not limited to): independent living skills, communication, play, social skills, executive functioning skills, feeding, dressing, decreasing challenging behaviors and so much more."

Once he is off the waitlist, Cameron's insurance will cover most everything, after the deductible is met. Their deductible is going to be roughly $5,000. I know that everyone will feel this in our current economy, $5,000 is not a small number for parents, especially those with small children, or kiddos like Cameron who need extra attention. Allyson and Derrick are phenomenal parents, who would move the earth for their kids, and who did not want to ask for help. But good ol' Auntie Cole, said no ma'am! We are going to see if there is something our wider village can do!!

So that is what I am asking today, please consider donating to help this family get my tiny best friend off to the best start that he can have. He deserves every opportunity in the world because he is destined to do amazing things. If you are not able to donate at this time, please consider leaving some words of support for the family.

Auntie Cole loves you sweetheart.
