Help Support Raymond “Bruce” Boyington in His Cancer Battle

Many of you know Bruce Boyington! He is well known in Milford and Old Town areas. He had a garage and was a mechanic for many years. After he retired, Bruce found his passion cleaning out estates and selling some of the rare finds of the estate clean outs at auctions and flea markets. Always a kind and proud man who has spent much of his life helping others in our community. Today, Bruce needs our help.

Bruce is currently in Florida, where he’s been undergoing urgent treatment for prostate cancer. Normally, he would be back in Maine for the spring and summer seasons, but due to the rapid progression of his illness, doctors had to begin chemotherapy immediately. This week, he is scheduled for surgery to remove as much of the cancer as possible, followed by an aggressive course of radiation.

Unfortunately, because Bruce is receiving care out of state, his insurance isn’t covering much of the treatment, leaving him and his family with a heavy financial burden. Attempts to transfer his care back to Maine were unsuccessful due to long wait times that his oncologist said would be too dangerous.

Bruce and his loved ones are now facing out-of-pocket costs of $300 per radiation treatment, with 8 to 14 sessions expected—totaling up to $4,200, not including travel, food, and lodging expenses.

If you know Bruce, you know he’s never been one to ask for help—but he has always been there when others needed him. Now it’s our turn to give back.
