Join Broc's Healing Journey

Dear Friends, Family, and Supporters,

Our colleague and dear friend, Broc, has recently been diagnosed with cancer and is in the middle of his treatment journey. As a wonderful father, husband, and friend I am looking to support him as cancer treatment can be both physically and financially overwhelming.

In November 2024, Broc was diagnosed with Invasive Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma. His primary tumor was in his lateral posterior tongue on the right side. In December, he underwent a partial glossectomy (removal of the posterior lateral portion of his tongue) along with tissue from the right tonsillar pillar and palate to midline on the right side. They were able to graft some skin on his thigh to help with healing and was on a liquid diet for a few weeks. On 12/17/24, he had a second procedure called a Modified Radical Neck Dissection where They removed 44 lymph nodes and tissue from the right side of his neck. In January, Broc started Radiation Therapy. His treatments will be every day (Monday - Friday) for the next 6 weeks. Radiation will be to his mouth & both sides of his neck. There are a variety of side effects that can happen with the radiation to the area he will be receiving it but the doctors expect him to have some level of energy depletion along with pain from the burns inside his mouth and throat. Due to the location it is also expected to have discomfort with eating/drinking again at some point during the treatment. The level of severity depends on the individual and we ask for prayers that his pain is well controlled and he maintains the ability to eat/drinking on his own without the need for feeding tube replacement therapy.
