Hi, my name is Brittany Brazel and I'm trying to raise money for my little sister. She started having stomach problems in August of 2023. On November 1st 2023 she had a colonoscopy done to see what was going on. Her results came back and they said she had colitis and that was it. Fast forward to March 2024 and she is having major problems with her abdomen. She is going to the bathroom multiple times an hour, cramping, throwing up, not wanting to eat. She goes the the ER on April 11th for abdominal pain and diarrhea. They do a CT scan and tell her that her intestines are inflamed. They give her steroids and antibiotics. April 16th, the first doctor who did her colonoscopy in November of 2023, put in for a referral to a GI specialist. On April 29th Shelby goes back to her primary care doctor because she has a sore throat and can't swallow. She has streptococcus and they put her on more antibiotics and magic mouthwash. On May 1st Shelby comes down to stay with us. She went from 135lbs down to 106lbs. She is in constant pain, her back hurts, she has bloody stools, and lower abdominal pain. On May 20th I leave work early to take my sister to the hospital in Columbia, SC. We wait from 1:30pm until 11:00pm. During that time they did blood work, a CT scan, and a rectal exam. All they did was put her on 50mg of prednisone and said it's colitis. May 24th Shelby is in such excruciating pain we take her to a different area hospital. Same thing there is nothing they can do. My sister at this point is down to 95lbs. May 29th, I take my mom and Shelby to meet her boyfriend to go back to NC. My mom goes with her because she has a GI appointment on June 5th. Well, June 5th comes and they go to the appointment and nothing happens. The GI specialist says she has to go back to her primary care doctor. My mom steps in and her Jersey comes out. So they agree to do another colonoscopy June 13th in Kingston, NC. Friday June 7th my mom calls EMS to take shelby to the hospital. Finally they admit her to the hospital. It should of never gotten this far. She is septic, she had to have a picc line placed that they are giving her TPN (Total Parenteral Nutrition), She weighs only 95lbs, she is on morphine bc of her pain. Now they are saying it's Pan Colitis which effects you entire large intestines instead of just part of it. I'm doing this for my little sister because, she had to drop out of school half way through her semester and quit her job because she physically can not do anything. She is stressing about everything and if I can do anything in the world to make it a little easier on her I'm going to try my best. Her boyfriend Jace can't do it alone. Anything will be appreciated.
