A few months ago mom was having a conversation with us and randomly starting talking gibberish. It happened about two weeks ago then again on 12/30/24 as she working. Her co-workers said she seemed blacked out, started talking gibberish, and the nurses at work thought she was having a seizure. They took her vitals and her blood pressure was high. They took her to the hospital in Kenosha where I met them. After several hours of testing, they found a meningioma tumor on the right side of her head near her temple that was a little smaller than a golf ball. The episodes of not being able to speak/mumbling were her having seizures caused by inflammation on her brain. She was transferred to a hospital in Milwaukee to the neuro ICU for further evaluation. On 12/31/2024 we were informed that she would be having a 4 hour brain surgery on 1/2/2024 to remove the tumor. Once it’s removed, they will take her for a CT scan to ensure it is all gone and to do a biopsy to ensure it’s not cancerous. However, most are not. Worst case scenarios are possible but surgeon seems confident. If everything goes as planned, she should be home by Saturday. She can’t drive for 3 months and no working for 4 weeks. She can gradually work herself back with a few hours at a time. She also has some more testing to do today for them to create a route that is safest to remove the tumor.
